North Carolina Virtual Academy

This article was on WRAL recently and I found it very interesting.  I have not formed an opinion yet and would love to hear from my fellow students.  What do you think?  Should NC allow a Virtual School for K-12?

  1. It is already up and running - My daughter took a class in it last fall in 9th grade. The student has to have really good study habits, but it works just like our DE classes. The teacher would email or call when needed. Otherwise she did all of her work on line and uploaded it using Moodle. Not every student would be self-regulated enough to complete this type of schooling. Also, there is no socialization. For children, they need to learn to get along with each other, make friends, and play on the playground together.

  2. Hey Teresa! That is awesome that your daughter took a class like this! It will help her in the future for sure! The judge ruled and blocked the NC Virtual Academy from opening. Is your daughter in a different program?
